Tatana Language Textbook Translation Workshop

The Kadazandusun Language Foundation (KLF) has initiated a commendable project aimed at translating BKD textbooks for future educational use. This endeavor focuses on four ethnic languages: Kadazan, Tatana, Lotud, and Murut, reflecting a significant effort to preserve and promote linguistic diversity.

The translation workshop was held from March 18 to March 22, 2024, at the Sabah Oriental Hotel.

Participants: The Sabah Tatana Cultural Association (STCA) was requested to send six participants to contribute to the translation of the BKD (Kadazandusun Language) textbooks into the Tatana language. The participants from STCA were:

Workshop Overview: The workshop, titled “Construction of Support Materials for Ethnic Languages,” spanned five days. It was a collaborative effort that brought together individuals passionate about the preservation of ethnic languages. The event was organized by the Kadazandusun Language Foundation and generously sponsored by Yayasan Bank Rakyat.

Outcome: The workshop successfully laid the groundwork for the translation of essential educational materials, ensuring that the rich heritage of these ethnic languages continues to be accessible to future generations. The participants engaged in rigorous translation exercises and discussions, fostering a deeper understanding of the linguistic intricacies involved.
